Vowing to Make Your Wedding the Best Day Ever

Hello. I’m Justin McMillan, the creative mind behind Extraordinary Vows. I live on the Central Coast of California. When I moved here in 2014, I soon realized I was in one of the wedding capitals of California. It wasn’t until I started planning my own wedding (happily married since June 2024!) that I truly realized ALL that goes into a wedding.

Between finding a venue, and a caterer, and a bartender, etc., and sending out and following up on invitations, and finding a suit that would hopefully make me look handsome for my bride, I found myself putting off the writing of my vows until a few weeks before the wedding, even though I had been thinking of them for several months.

Eventually, I got some momentum and wrote what I though were clever (enough) and sincere (just enough) vows. My beautiful bride and many of my friends and family agreed, and let me know…without me asking. I HOPE they weren’t just buttering me up :)

Even though I was able to get them done, and was satisfied with my efforts, I recognized how stressful and nerve-wracking vow writing and delivering can be. 

I’ve been a creative and artistic person my entire life. After a 20+ year career as a professional ballet dancer, I veered into grant writing and entrepreneurship. I’ve written WAY too many grant proposals for area nonprofits. Those didn’t require a great deal of imagination, but still a decent amount of creativity. I’ve also written a ton of clever (again…enough) ads for my service businesses.
